'5404' 2-8-2 Heavy Mikado 1.6" (7.5" gauge)

Canadian Pacific 5404 is another P2f series Mikado, which was completed and delivered to a client in Florida.

This first set of images shows 5404 being built to order.

In the paint booth.

The paint is dry. Any colour as long as it's black!

The next set of images was taken at the beginning of February 2007, at the shops in Alberta before loading for the trip to Florida.

The following images were taken in Florida, in the latter half of February and early March 2007.

Unloading the 5404 in Florida. And yes, the weather was cool.

The 'wow' factor is definitely the builder's biggest reward for the uncounted long hours it took to produce the unit over the last four months. Read Bill's testimonial on the testimonials page.

Happy owner and the 5404, heading for the main line at the Largo track.

The first day solo at Largo.

What's happening back at the office? What office? Those kinds of thought are no competition to this kind of fun!

Now that's just gorgeous, isn't it?

"This is my train!"

CP5404 and UP844 pass.

Cameras were clicking constantly during the meet at Largo.

Gizmo takes a train ride. (His rear drivers are a set of wheels.)

Bill is comfortable operating steam now. That's Gizmo, Emile and Dorinda enjoying the ride too.

Train Awareness Day, for the public, March 4th 2007, at the park where the new club track Central Pasco and Gulf Railroad are located. See www.cpgrr.org.

Dorinda and I headed back to Alberta Canada the next day, leaving behind, for the time being, a lot of newly-made friends as well as all the renewed ones. We had a fantastic time and were treated with unbelievable hospitality by Bill & Emile and the rest of the gang in Florida.
